Answer
Sorry.

But as there are some dozen models of the iPod it would be quite a lot to research all of them and produce a report on each one.

HOWEVER the easiest way that works with all models so far is an audio cable. Some iPods have bluetooth so those 2 methods may be the most likely.

sorry ...not quite as specific as i see i needed to be ...it is an older i pod classic , and too i have come to realize that there's nothing to be done with the current arrangement ...i bought a cheap "box" for the boat's delivery home, so have some music ...
if i was given good info at the store , it appears i can take the old out,
replace with a newer setup, that has a USB or 1/4" jack readily available and get the tunes that way

however , will welcome any other insights still

and again thanx

admittedly, showing my lack of knowledge in this area, but that's why i seek the info... this is a device i am totally unfamiliar with ... is it really that simple ? and an item that would typically be available locally ? say best buy ? thanx R

Don't use an FM transmitter

They sound awful. Unless you are completely averse to changing the head unit, I would stick with another setup that gives you a wired connection for all iPods and/or other USB or headphone capable rigs via 3.5mm aux in/etc. Generic head units w/ such features are really cheap now anyway.

Remember I'm giving you a last chance fix.

It won't be the best or even close to how good a wired or other connection will be. I used one of these for years and it was OK. Not as good as wired.
