Question

Using a second router as a booster

Sep 28, 2016 2:03PM PDT

Hi,

I am trying to add an old linksys router upstairs to boost the wifi signal. The house has been wired with cat 5e and the cables and connections work fine as I have tested them by plugging directly into a lap top.

The internet is on BT and the main router is one supplied by them. I have tried logging onto the 2nd router and switching off dns and choosing a different channel but it doesn't work.

Am I missing something.

Thanks

"Using a router as a WAP."

I see you turned off the DHCP but if you are using the WAN port, then except for a rare model you never use that port.

Research "Using a router as a WAP" if you need a review on how to do this.
