hi, i have an ipod touch and it is currently formatted on my pc, i just bought a mac and i want to know if there is a way that i can use the ipod on both my pc and my mac?

I have a feeling that the first time you plug the iPod into your Mac, iTunes will launch and insist that you format the iPod using a Mac format.
Plug it in and see. You can always say NO when prompted.

right so if it does make me reformat it for mac, is there any way to keep it for both, that is my question
and as such I would tell you NO, it will not work as you want.
The iPod is designed to sync with one library only. If you connect an iPod to another computer, and that computer has a copy of iTunes that does not have exactly the same playlists and tracks on it, at the sync, ALL tracks that are not on that computer will be stripped off the iPod.
Your choice, sync to the PC library or sync to the Mac library, you cannot do both.

why do you say that? right now my ipod does not sync to my pc automatically , i checked off the box that lets me manually manage it. will this help?
As long as you manage your music manually, by turning off the synching, you can use a PC formatted iPod (FAT32) on both a PC and a Mac. If in the future you need to update the iPod's firmware, you'll need to do it on a PC.
Depending on your iPod, i.e., iPod shuffles and iPhones are formatted for PCs only. You won't have an option to format it for the Mac.
at some point you may want to put tracks that are on the Mac onto the iPod.
At this point you will have to sync and then any tracks that are not on the mac will go away on the iPod.

It will not go away if I don't sync it. The way I manage my music is just dragging from the folders directly onto the ipod. If that's the case would it work? And how do I format my ipod into fat32?
then yes, it should work for both computers.
If you originally used the iPod on a Windows machine, it is already formatted as FAT32

They're formatted as FAT 32 and thus can be used on both Macs and PCs. No one said anything about PC only. When you manage music manually, you can just drag the songs from the Mac or PC library to the iPod.
Try to format an iPhone or an iPod Shuffle to a Mac format, it won't be allowed.
