Using a mac with MS Small Business Server

Feb 12, 2008 5:00AM PST

Our company recently got Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003. A new employee has a mac laptop with Microsoft Office X for mac, which has Entourage for email instead of Outlook.
I have two questions. Is it possible to get his email to work with the server, and is it possible to set up file access with his mac?

Hi PinkDrink,

You have a number of options for connecting up the Mac to a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 network.

I'd recommend that you contact a Microsoft Small Business Specialist in your area as this individual/company will generally have the best demonstrated competence on Microsoft Small Business Server 2003.

See
http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/

In the upper right-hand corner, enter your zip code. Then click the button for Find an IT Specialist.

Also be sure to ask for (and confirm) client references from Microsoft Small Business Server clients that have Macs.

Microsoft Small Business Server is kind of a specialty onto itself. So you don't just want an individual/company that knows Windows Server networking. You want an individual/company that specializes in Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 networking AND has considerable expertise on Mac interoperability issues.

Best wishes,

Joshua Feinberg
