Users folder

Jan 11, 2014 10:47PM PST

I use Win7 and want to access the Users/Users folder where Win7 store and add files.
I try to open the folder but I have not access to this folders. Just all users and that folder I don't need to look in.
Is there any help to open this folder and files?

There's no such folder

There's no such directory as Users\Users unless you mean something like Users\<username>. So for example Users\Bob and Users\Steve if there were a "Bob" and "Steve" account on the system. In which case, the default permissions are that only the account that uses that as its home directory are able to access it. Even administrator accounts are locked out save the global administrator account.

What is it you're trying to do exactly by looking in these directories?

Hi and thanks for sugestions.

I am getting this message:
Access denied

when I try to open Users/Default User

The folders are so:
Folders

I use Win7 and does not know why I can't get into these folders as there is one file I need to edit in the roaming folder inside the default user.

How can I overrun this denial??

Sincerely

Read CursorCowboy's reply again (thanks BTW!)

It's not a denial. It only means you need to do more work.

Thanks for your effort. I'll ask another place as it seems there is no solution on my subject!

Thanks from an "oldtimer" that does not have the knowledge.

What you should do or should have done . . .

First article "In many cases, you will need to change the permissions" and the second "Download and unzip the files contained in the zipfile. Double-click the InstallTakeOwnership.reg file and click through the prompts".

Did you read and take any action as described it either article? If not then . . .

I have done so for the folders and underfolders in Users.

But still I can get in by rightclik. Then I used the file described but still I can't rightclick.

I have been in securety and changed to full access (write and save). On all the user of this computer.Still I can't get in and change the files I need as I always get denied acess in another window.

Folders?
Jan 13, 2014 4:33AM PST

Are sure you don't mean files? Out of curiosity what are they and where did you save them. And you have looked in Documents/downloads/pictures? As far as permissions are concerned, is it Administrator rights? When you right click on one of the items, does it show a file type? As Mr. Proffitt stated some more work and a little more information might help getting the issue resolved.

How about some old advice?

http://tips.oncomputers.info/archives2004/0401/2004-Jan-11.htm

This was about a decade ago and no Linux knowledge is required to get at any folder and file on the HDD to copy them out to USB sticks.

You can imagine the IT staffer that thought their systems were secure as I double dog dared them to detect I had copied out everything.

I am not using linux! And if you read my question, I want to get into my users/useer folder NOT an ordinary file on a HD or other sticks.
I'll give up ........
Fooling around is not my thing........

As your pictures show

There is no "users/useer" folder so you can see why you are having so much trouble.

Is there some college or such that offers courses in Windows and programming? I see CursorCowboy provided the answer but it appears you need more.

In my city we have "Computer Coaches" for folk that need to learn more.
