General discussion

Usenet

I am ready to pull the trigger on my first Mac, after using PC's for the last 15 yrs.
After doing all the research possible, on the included software, I can't find anything regarding reading and posting to Usenet text groups. Is there any programs included in the software bundle to utilize Usenet??
It may seem like a dumb question, but Usenet is very important to me, and it has always been a part of Windows, and I am totally baffled why it wouldn't be included. I am subscribed to about a dozen newsgroups, and this would be a deal breaker for me.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know there is not built-in newsgroup reader included with the Mac.
However, the email client in MS Office for Mac, Entourage, is also a newsgroup reader. Office for Mac is included on each new Mac as a trial version.
There are a number of Freeware/Shareware/Commercial newsgroup readers available as downloads from the Internet.

Unison gets decent reviews, MacSoup, Hogwasher and MT-Newswatcher are also available.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, I did some previous searches on Google, and came up with quite a few newsreaders, which were geared primarily for downloading binaries.
I am just interested in text, so I will search further.
I am kind of surprised that Apple overlooked this component of the 'net, it is still very widely used.
