Put another way

Put another way, the 64-bit version of XP was only sold as an OEM product for a reason. That reason is similar to why it also never received SP3 and there's very little in the way of driver support for it. It was never intended for general consumption by people like yourself, so all bets are off when you use programs like CCleaner. At the best of times, CCleaner is a dangerous tool in the hands of the people who understand the associated risks of using it. In the hands of the average user it's an accident waiting to happen, made worse when people use it in unexpected ways, such as the 64-bit version of XP that the author(s) of CCleaner are unlikely to have bothered taking into consideration during any testing they might perform prior to release.

Stay very far away from any program that includes functions to "clean" or "repair" the Windows registry. There is no need for either of these functions and you're far more likely to cause new problems than resolve any existing ones.

Also given that the 64-bit version of XP had support dropped for it years ago, combined with its 32-bit cousin losing life support in about 5 months, you would be well advised to migrate off of XP yesterday. You can take your pick on any version of Windows between Vista and Windows 8 or even go with something like Linux if you want, but you should take a bit of advice from your friendly neighborhood bartenders when they say: You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.
