Use video on Canon S5IS or buy new Sony DCR-SX44?

Oct 10, 2010 7:34AM PDT

I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question. Right now I'm using the video function on my Canon S5IS. However, I am starting to take longer videos such as at my son's soccer games or school plays. Should I invest in an actual camcorder such as the Sony DCR-SX44 or buy a bigger memory card for my camera? Will the Sony DCR-SX44 video quality be much better than the one I take on my camera?
