bump... anybody?
I would like to use my Laptop as a wireless internet card for my Desktop via Ethernet cable. So far I've managed to plug the two together, but the computers read each other as UNIDENTIFIED Network, even though I can go under networks and access each other's files with ease. I turned on Internet Connection Sharing, still nothing. I would really appreciate it if I can change the Unidentified to Identified and name it something, I want it to be a mini network between these computers to share files (laptop doesn't have much harddrive space, so I like to throw a few games on here, come back later, delete, throw em a different set over.) I technically can do that right now, but I can't stand the computers calling the network Unidentified Public Network. Ironically, this setup was easily done with my Macbook! You'd think it'd be harder for OSX and Win 7 to accomplish what I want, rather then Win 7 to Win 7 being the harder. And to be a little more detailed, not sure if this is a deal breaker, but my Laptop is a Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition, and my Desktop is a Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate Edition. Oh and if your wondering why don't I just buy a wireless card, after all there very affordable right now... reason, I don't see the need too because I always have my Laptop and my Desktop together when I am home, I like to use programs like Synergy, and have my Laptop display PDF Documents of Tutorials for various things I am doing on my PC and use my PC monitor strictly for the task I am trying to complete. Too bad there isn't a good tutorial how to fix this problem lol.
