Resolved Question

Use headphones with HD TV.

Samsung PN51F5300AFXZA plasma tv. How can I use headphones with this TV so I can watch without the sound bothering others? I see a connection on the back named Digital Audio Out (Optical), but nothing else that looks like an audio output. Do I need special headphones / equipment? I'm not technically adept, but if you spell it out I can follow directions! Thanks.

Some TV's have a headphone connection, others don't. It seems yours doesn't.

The easy solution: connect the digital audio out to your sound system and use its headphone out.

Or buy a converter from digital audio to bluetooth, coupled to a bluetooth headphone.
telme2.com/tosblue-the-super-TV-sound-you-can-afford.html is an example of a complete set (just a google hit, not a recommendation). I'm sure your local BestBuy (or any other TV shop) has something comparable and can advise you about what to buy.
