Resolved Question

use hdmi audio instead of sound card

Sep 16, 2017 12:28PM PDT

is this possible? my sound card just stopped working I dont know why the drivers are uptodate, even the sound icon in notification area
shows sound but when I connect a headphone or speaker there's no sound.
I was wondering I have a GTX650 vga card. When connected via HDMI I have excellent sound. If I use some king of a splitter of something will I be able to use that sound card when not connected via HDMI>??

sound card

Is it an actual card in slot, or onboard sound chip? Does the computer have an onboard sound chip? Sometimes you have to set for HDMI or for Analog sound, but can't have both at the same time.

Even if you split off HDMI audio that costs 20 bucks.
