Use dish 811 HD receiver for over the air ??

by mtiger10 / April 20, 2006 11:09 PM PDT

I'm about to cancel my Dish network service and go with my local cable company as a cost-saving measure. Can I still use my Dish network 811 HDTV receiver (with attached antenna) to get over the air (local channels) in high definition if I don't have a subscription to the dish network service?

You might try unhooking the Dish feed and just leave the OTA antenna on the 811. Then do a front panel reset or unplug it for a while so it loses it's memory and see if your locals still work. Let us know if it works.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
