USB won't eject hardware safely

by DawsonUK / October 9, 2005 4:18 AM PDT

Lately, having problem whenever I plug my MP3 player into the USB. Loads up no problem, can access files and read/write. Only problem is that when I click on the taskbar icon to safely disconnect, get told that cannot disconnect at that time. No programs running, doesn't even matter if I leave it for half an hour.

Running Windows ME, which I'm not used to, and so wondering if there could be something I need to alter somewhere.

That a driver is in need of update. It's too bad you didn't note make/model numbers so the forum members could look around for you.

on a win2k machine, pen drive goes in. After transfer, i "safely remove hardware", it tells me it's now safe, but after removing it, i get an msg saying i may have lost data due to unsafe removing! I didn't lose data, but it was only those 2 times, so i guess it was some glitch with windows or the drivers
