When we use the WPS button that's to do what we call "pairing" or connecting to the router.
Also, if the router is not setup for say WPA2 which is the latest out today for all, then you would NOT fix this with the USB WiFi 5GHz adapter. The WPA2 is a router setting and NOT done at the adapter.
The answer is NO. You will not be able to "encrypt this device" until you change the router settings to say WPA2.
Can anyone please help if you can? I bought a product usb wifi 5ghz adapter for my win 10 pc. I am not sure how to encrypt it. I went to support on their website but got no replies. I tried the wifi protect setup tab on the software, but when I do the instructions on the wps push, it says "error" every time. Is there another way to encrypt this device? It shows open system, encrypt disabled when I look at the status..all I want to do is secure it. It is not automatically encrypted.
