Question

USB unsorted files on TV

Feb 17, 2015 9:23AM PST

When I put my videos on USB they appear out of order on TV since the TV does not sort the file names. This is especially a problem when trying to watch TV episodes since episodes are numbered and watched according to their order.

Anyone have a TV that actually sorts the files?

I had to write a software tool that would copy the files to the USB in their sorted order. The tool seems to copy faster and more accurately than MicroSoft Windows Explorer.

Numbering

yes. as I said episodes are numbered IE: 101, 102, 103, etc

Of course I did this before writing software to do it for me Wink

Again. To dive into this make and full model number.

I see no make and full model number. Some one tried to software by APPENDING numbers like yours. You also used 3 digits and some models just can't sort past 2. These TVs are not PCs and folk get a little cranky about that.

Is there any hope of a make and full model number?

PS. Folk are generally unhappy with Smart TVs like this.

http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-568726/tracks-order-on-allshare/ shares a back and forth where they share that it's broken on one system and working on another.

They're genuinely unhappy with how inconsistent this area is. I've used the old number (prepending, 2 digits) for years with success on many things. Sometimes you find an UNORDERED system and that I had to get creative. That is I have to copy the files one by one in the order I wanted to a freshly formatted stick.

STUPID SMART Tvs

I was just curious if ALL TVs are this way.

I wrote software wich copies hundreds of files in the proper order at assembler level which is faster a little.

WindowsExplorer (operating system) copying makes mistakes in copying large video files.
WindowsExplorer when copying several files does not copy them in their proper (visual/sorted) order
WindowsExplorer is a pain in the butt to copy one-by-one all those files

Just curious .. my software tool works great ... just select a whoe folder and click "copy" and walk away

Have thot a few times to offer it for free on inet but not sure its worth the bother..... dunno

The way I see.

Inconsistency appears to be the norm.
