usb to parallel port adapter

Feb 26, 2006 10:52PM PST

I'm looking at a xerox printer- the 8500 DN- but my PC does not have USB capability. (My IT office says) It only has a parallel port. Looks like the 8500 uses a USB 2.0. I know there are USB to parallel port adapters... But do you have advice on whether or not I would get the same performance and speed from the printer with an adapter? Its hard to imagine I would. Other specifications of my PC are that its a Dell OptiPlex GX110, Pentium III, with Windows NT 4.0 and 128 mb ram.
Not up to date, needless to say.
Thanks for your help!
