Turns out that the original Unreal Tournament can detect the scroll wheel... but UT2k4 cannot.
I just got a new IBM computer with a Microsoft-manufactured HID-compliant IBM USB optical mouse. It has a very good scroll wheel (that works in applications like Firefox and Office) that games don't recognize. When I try to map Zoom/Next Weapon (halo) or Prev Weapon/Next Weapon (UT2k4 and Battlefield) to the scroll wheel, the game just sits merrily awaiting input while I frantically spin the scroll wheel!
Not exactly sure what it would do, I created an "office 97 scrolling emulation exception" for those games, but it didn't do anything.
Do you think it could be because some IBM "Mouse Suite" is integrated into Mouse Properties? (screenshot: http://img252.echo.cx/img252/6936/screenshot10fp.png) If so, is there any way to de-integrate it?
It's incredibly annoying (not to mention darn difficult, especially in halo) to have to have zoom/weapon change mapped to the keyboard... can anyone help me?
