USB Problem in XP home SP2

by Metalguy834 / April 14, 2008 7:56 AM PDT

I recently had a usb game controller fail on me, and when it did all of my usb ports quit working.
an error message popped up that said that all the data in a peticular file was lost, I uninstalled the usb drivers and reinstalled them to no effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you.

Did you un-install
by PudgyOne / April 14, 2008 8:08 AM PDT

everything in the device manager under USB Controllers?

Starting at the bottom and working your way to the top?

Un-install the USB hosts first, then the USB Controllers,

Restart your computer. Windows will find them again.

You might get by with an add in card. Perhaps you can find one that has a header allowing front port connection as well.
