usb movie to tv

Iam trying to watch a downloaded movie off my usb stick on my panasonic plasma tv. The tv doesnt have a usb socket but my bluray player does. But the bluray doesnt recognise the usb. There is a message what says NAVI which appears on the bluray display. The tv screen just has numerous blank boxes like an empty slide show. Its as though the bluray doesnt recognise theres a usb there.
The usb is a sandisk 16gb.
Bluray is Panasonic DMP-BD65

But I'd try the http://forums.cnet.com/home-audio-and-video-forum/ in stead of Computer Help. A player isn't a computer, after all.
If no answer comes there after 2 days, try http://forums.cnet.com/panasonic-forum/

Also, of possible, provide a link to the user manual of the bluray player, and tell what it says about a NAVI error.
