USB mouse and keyboard help

Sep 20, 2013 9:10AM PDT

I have tried everything I can think of to get this problem fixed so now I am turning to you guys.

Both my keyboard and mouse are corded USB to my PC. Starting Monday this past week my mouse cursor will freeze in place. I will be unable to move it for about 10-15seconds. And then it got worse and my keyboard would also shutdown. Not as often but the only way to turn either back on when the keyboard went out is to unplug them and plug them back in.

I have uninstalled all the USB controllers and reset my pc. Didnt work. I have ran Avast- nothing.
CCleaner- Still no. Updated drivers where I could find them. Nada. Switched the USB ports, Still nothing.

At this point I am desperate to fix this issue. Its made using ym PC almost pointless and am begging for someone smarter than I am to come here and save the day.

Thank you in advance.

I have not downloaded a new game in about 2-3 weeks. This problem just cropped up monday morning. And now that I think of that...My PC turned itself on at night after I put it to sleep...Maybe an update came out monday? Can't believe I didn't think of that sooner. Any ideas on how I can check?

Three comments

First, how old are your keyboard and mouse? It sounds like the rest of your hardware is pretty new.
Second, please try again on exactly what version of Windows you have. I ask because there's no Windows 2.6.1.7601, and because the Home Premium version of Windows 7 only supports up to 16 GB whereas you say you have 34.34 GB.
Third, I'd boot to Safe Mode to check for viruses. I think I'd also download Malwarebytes and run that in Safe Mode.

My bad.

I have Windows 7 ultimate. The version is Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
The mouse and keyboard are about 6 months old at this point. Also I want to point out that I plugged in my turtle beaches last night and the same problem would occur with them. I will download Malwarebytes and run in safe mode.

I ran it

I ran malware in safe mode. It found like 7 files I think? I got rid of them all. But I it still happens.

you have yet to tell the forum how old this computer is. Are you in a rugged environment (lot's of sand and dust) ? How long has it been since you've given it a good blast of canned air? I'm thinking you do some gaming. Heat dries out the thermal compound, it could be the heat sinks need to be cleaned and new thermal paste applied. While you're cleaning out the cobwebs, take a close look at the capacitors on the motherboard (Google "Bad Caps" ) and see what that says.....

Not even a year

The computer is not even a year old. I have not cracked it open to clean out dust in awhile. Yes I game.

How about temperatures? Have you checked?
Sep 22, 2013 2:20AM PDT

If the core temps are getting up over 50 degrees C, that can cause problems. I use SpeedFan to check.

Just format your PC and install a fresh copy of windows 7 and after formatting just install your network adapter and download latest antivirus. I will prefer you to download bit defender total security 2013. And after installing the antivirus just run a complete scan of your pc and keep in mind never open any hardisk drive as they may contain active virus in it. hope this fixes your issue.
