USB microphone records my voice very low

Jun 27, 2018 12:44AM PDT

I bough a samson meteor mic becouse I heard that is a good USB microphone, but when I record my voice, it sounds very low. I put "81" in windows 10 microphone level properties, becouse its his default value. If I put 100, it sounds very bad.

I tried changing the USB, trying another USB cable, using the microphone with my laptop...and nothing did work. What could I do?

Find a friend or colleague that has another microphone and compare yours with his. If it turns out that yours is bad, you surely have warranty on it.

Two weeks ago I bought a 10 euro headset (not USB but with 3.5 audio jacks) which works fine for both my laptop and my desktop. If I use it in meetings, the other participants don't complain about the sound quality, and that's exactly what I needed.
But seeing the price of yours (60 euro's) and it being called a studio microphone I think you're looking for another class of microphone.

That makes it difficult to say if it's an issue with the microphone or with the laptop. I'm afraid you'll have to leave the village to find a place with a repair shop that can test it for you.
