USB Mass Storage

I get an error message stating that "device not recognized" when I try to use a 'mas storage' devuce on USB. I have tried with three machines ( all running nstalls from the same XP Pro CD). Currently I'm running XP Pro 64 bit and still have the prblem, all otherUSB devices seem to work well. I tried XP Home on this machine prior to installing XP Pro and the same devices work. Any ideas?
