Question

USB hub doesn't work on Windows 10 tablet

Apr 5, 2018 11:45AM PDT

I have a little Windows 10 tablet that has only one USB port. I tried connecting a USB hub with 7 ports. This is a powered USB hub. It doesn't work. If I connect it to my laptop, it does. I've also tried an unpowered USB hub with the same result. Any thoughts?

Back to the maker for explanations and maybe a refund for the defective gear.

Or did it have some other OS and you upgraded to W10?

Windows 10 was installed on the tablet. It's the Home version 1709 OS build 16299.309.

I tried to run the Windows 10 troubleshooter and got this message: "The USB controller is in a failed state or is not currently installed. The USB controller must be installed or in a working state for this troubleshooter to work." TIA. Jaina

Windows tablets are such you can't count of the users to find drivers. Back to the maker to correct or refund.

Does USB work without the hub? This message is so general that even that is doubtful.
What does Device Manager say about USB?
