Try another machine.

I've seen virus, trojans, worms do this. XP SP2 with all updates and I've yet to see such.

Did you do the usual shutdown, pull the AC cord, wait and retry?

USB drives not recognized
Aug 5, 2005 3:03AM PDT

thanks. When home machine lost recognition, I tried my office machine and another workstation at the office. Same thing. If I picked up a worm or virus or trojan at home, I gather that the USB drives would have been fried, and the work machines then would not
recognize either. Work machines automatically virus
scan, and tried McAfee at home - no luck - yet.
Any other software recommended - scan for virus etc., recover data.. ?? Bought "rescue Hard Drives and Recover Data" software by PCTOOLSPRO - hasn't arrived yet.
Thanks

Did PCToolsPro work??

vipergts,
I was just wondering if PCToolsPro worked to solve you problem? I have had a hard drive crash and it's not recognized when placed in a USB enclosure. Thought I would buy a boot repair disk but am kind of skeptical about whether it will work or not. Thanks
