Question

USB and Drivers

Jan 18, 2015 2:38PM PST

Why when ever I plug a cell phone or camera into my USB port a message will pop up that reads either the USB port in not recognized or the driver driver can not be found? It does not matter what type of camera or cell phone it is,it says the same thing.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

does your device manager show exclamation marks beside usb drivers? if so, try going to the computer manufacturers website, download the usb drivers for your specific computer model and install them.

It's still true we get to do driver hunts for a lot of things. It DOES MATTER what type of camera or phone since the driver for each one has to be found (by us.)

My Camera is a PL121 Samsung

For the camera I found no driver.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/EC-PL121ZFPLGB has manuals so I'd re-read that on how to operate it over USB. For me I NEVER install a camera driver since I use the old fashioned pull the card, copy over my pictures method.

As to the phones, the exact model matters. Without it, no one can guess which driver to install.

I have come to find out that not even my Samsung tab 3 or my Samsung cell phone will download the drivers for them either. Anything made by Samsung will not download the drivers.
The camera is a EC-PL121ZFPBCA as what I can see on the box it was bought in. I do have a disk for the Samsung camera as well but I don't think the driver or USB is on the disk it's just the manuel for the Samsung camera. It does have a yellow exclamation mark when the notice pops up about the Usb or the driver that can't be found. I know it can't be my camera because I only used it a couple of times. I am wondering if someone uninstalled anything to do with Samsung devices ?
I did get my Canon camera working properly.

It's not amazing that a tablet or a phone won''t download a driver. But it would be amazing if a Windows 7 or Windows 8 laptop from Samsung didn't do it, while any other Windows 7 or Windows 8 laptop does. Did you already try to download on a non-Samsung Windows PC?

And how do you mean "my PC doesn't download the driver". What do you do and what happens?

I mean when I usually plug anything into a USB port it downloads auotomatically.
Instead a popup box comes up and says one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

You have to install the entire program and it has the drivers included in it.

I put the disk in to download it,but it's telling e that it is downloaded already.
How can I uninstall it and install it again?
I don't see anything in my add/remove programs about the camera.

you have the program on disk?

And when you boot the disk you ran the setup or install file? Should have given you choices like "install" or "repair installation" or "remove program".

You can check in Programs folder for it's folder and rename it by adding an underscore, then see if it will reboot and load the program again.

I don't know what windows you are running, but if Vista or later, then right clk on the exe installation file and choose to run it in compatibility mode, especially if the program was written for XP.
