So far if it supports 3.0 USB, it does 3.1.
"The USB 3.1 standard is backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0"
However you don't see a lot of 3.1 devices so it's a non-starter to me.
OK, why would you open up this laptop? Expresscards plug into those expresscard slots. This laptop does not have such a slot when I checked on the web.
As no slots are there there's a slight chance the Gigabit Ethernet might copy files faster to a GB NAS. Slight but you would have to test and be sure to use FTP for the testing.
Does anyone know how to tell if a laptop can support a USB 3.1 expresscard? I have a basic Gateway laptop with Core i3 chipset. I'm not sure of the motherboard specs. The model is NE56R49U. I have been trying to find out the feasibility of the idea, prior to opening up the laptop.
Any ideas on how/where to find that info?
Thanks!
