This is common for a few reasons.
1. Motherboard drivers (No, Microsoft doesn't do this for us) and BIOS are out of date.
2. And the rest of the reasons at http://www.usbman.com
3. USB 2.0 drivers/support is NOT on the 98se disk.

I recently purchased a USB 2.o pci card to upgrade my PC that had 1.1. The card will not work. The drivers are loaed (via WIndows 98 disc) and then the computer hands or keeps rebooting.
I thought maybe it was becasue of the original 1.1 on there, so I disabled it in the device manager, it did not change the outcome.
I updated my Phoenix bios but that seems to have done no good. I have researchyed this and all I read is about assinging IRQ's. I cannot do that wiuh my bios. ANy other suggestions?
The card did work briefly, I attahed my cable modem to it and I was on line for about thirty seconds. I then got a blue screen and a message about memory sharing,
Any help would be appreciated
