USB 1.1 speed is 11 megabits per second.
USB 2.0 speed is some 480 megabits per second.
Common cable connection and DSL can exceed 11 megabits per second so moving to USB 2.0 can improve the speed IF and only if you have a 802.11g WAP. Even if your WAP is all of 802.11b, the USB 2.0 802.11g adapter will not be the possible bottleneck. Again, here's why. The 11 megabit rate in USB 1.1 is HALF DUPLEX. So you don't get the full 11 mbps for your own use.
Hope this helps.
