Question

USB 2.0 card

by Mikekozlow / January 15, 2017 12:01 PM PST

I have a Gateway SX 2801-07e , running WIN 7 64bit, that is equipped with USB 1.1. I would like to add a USB 2.0 card. the tower is a "mini" so I need a 3 1/2 inch card with the small foot connector. There isn't an available power supply to go to 3.0. Any suggestions on where to find the card that fits?

Splitter

I guess my lack of computer skill is going to show. I wouldn't know where to start! Any suggestions on where to find instructions on installing a splitter? I understand the concept you are suggesting.

I think you only need a little time or think of a splitter like an AC (mains) power extension cord.

I hope you have used wall power extension cords so a splitter works the same way. You plug it into the outlet and on the other end you have 1 to 3 new power plugs.

Are you sure about that 1.1?
Specs show 2.0.

when I use a 2.0 device I get a message saying it would be faster if I used a 2.0 port. I am then directed to my device manager which doesn't show a 2.0 port at least according to the way they are supposed to be identified.
