US Bombs Fallujah Mosque; More Than 40 Worshippers Killed...

Apr 7, 2004 3:46PM PDT

Associated Press says: "FALLUJAH - U.S. Marines in a fierce battle for this Sunni Muslim stronghold fired rockets that hit a mosque compound filled with worshippers today, and witnesses said as many as 40 people were killed. Shiite-inspired violence spread to nearly all of the country."

These miserable people do not want to come into the 21st century. They have been brainwashed to accept the misery they live in and to fight for the control of it. We seem to have only two choices in the area. Pull out and let them slaughter each other,or,let our military loose and decimate the poulation and get it over with once and for all.. As long as they back their sword rattling with lives we have no alternative. Pulling out is really not possible at this point in time. So mass slaughter is apparently the course they want pursued and it is time we obliged them. One medium sized city reduced to rubble might get the message through to them, but even that might not suffice!

The Real Truth...
Apr 8, 2004 1:17PM PDT

Let's see. We invaded/occupied Iraq because:

1. Saddam invaded a neighbor state? Yes in 1991. But he's stayed within his borders ever since the end of the Gulf War...

2. Iraq had chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons? No, everyone from both the UN and US inspectors say they never existed. Even GW and Powell now claim the cooked and cherry-picked "intelligence" was wrong...

3. Iraq and Al Qaeda were allied against us? Nope again. There is no evidence that Al Qaeda and Saddam had any connections. In fact, OBL considered Saddam an enemy too...

4. Saddam tried to kill GW's daddy? GW and his administration flatly denied that this was the reason...

5. Saddam was a bad man and we are there to liberate Iraqis? That doesn't seem to be the case after all since we are now willing to kill any and all Sunnis and Shias who stand in our way, who just happen to represent over 90% of the Iraqi population. Maybe we are only interested in liberating the Kurds? What happens if they turn against us too???

6. Iraq has the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world? Since the US is highly addicted to oil and oil reserves are quickly dwindling, it seems that this is the most likely reason for invading and occupying Iraq. Maybe it's time for GW to level with the American people and tell them the real truth for his misguided and costly agenda...

I'm sorry but I would never buy it for my wife exclusively since we both are responsible for the household and the cleaning. Seems as if you haven't realized that we have reached year 2004...

Regarding cold showers, I bet you have taken a few. I would if I lived where you are (unless you moved to Canada of course). Apart from refreshing it makes you wake up?

Hi, Clay.

>> A mosque from which RPGs are fired at our troops is not a mosque, it is a target. <<
By the rules of war, you're correct. The problem is that we're not only in a war, we're fighting for the "hearts and minds," not of those particular Muslims, but for others. First problem, many of those inside are probably innocent worshippers who know nothing about the guy with the RPG. Second problem, unscrupulous (to put it mildly) extremists can use that approach to intentionally cause civilian casualties that will further enrage the populace and Muslims watching elsewhere. Third problem is that Al Jazeera doesn't tell the Muslims about the guy with the RPG; they just blare "Americans attack mosque," much like Charlie. So while militarily justified, the attack probably isn't very smart. This whole messy situation could have been avoided if we'd never invaded in the first place...

As was said on Fox yesterday, you can't win the hearts and minds of the heartless and mindless.

If they use a mosque as a military installation it becomes a target, that's that. They can police their own if they choose to do so. If not, they have no room to complain, regardless of what Al Jazeera (the CNN of that area) says about it. They too need a Fox network.

I understand it is hard for you to agree with me on some issues without jeopardizing your friendship with some of the regulars, but I strongly feel you went way over the line here, although the neo-Cons will commend you for disagreeing with me and for attacking me, saying that I just blare things. Hey Jonah,

Since you are bound and determined to hate anything and everything posted on CommonDreams.org, you may not be aware that very few articles are written by the kind folks at CommonDreams.org. If you look carefully at the article provided by Charlie, at the top you will see these curious little words "Published on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 by the Associated Press". You may not understand these words, but they clearly state that the article came from the Associated Press...

Charlie is correct by what he says. You may enjoy calling people liars, but it might be better if you came down off the mount once in a while so that you can learn to socialize a bit better. Just because you want just about everyone to be your enemy if they don't agree with you or your views, not everyone will oblige you. You've been in a war zone far too long for your own good...

Here is Charlie's link again just so you don't have to go back to his post again to check it out...

Jonah, I realize that there are many slow learners out there so I won't hold it against you if you don't get it on the first try. Let's continue looking at the article linked to by Charlie. I wouldn't even attempt to try to look as foolish as you Evie. It appears that you are making the same incorrect assumptions. I won't hold it against you though... Happy

You really want us to believe that the AP published a story and timestamped it Apr 7, 9:58 AM EDT and that the have since updated and/or modified the story but not the timestamp? Can you substantiate your accusation against them or is this just an assumption on your part?

Hi, Charlie.

While the body of the report is from the AP, each newspaper/media outlet typically writes its own headline. BTW, I'm not alone in my concern about this -- former Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey, a member of the 9/11 Commission, said much the same to Condy Rice yesterday.

Bob Kerry's behavior was disgusting
Apr 9, 2004 1:26AM PDT

... I can only imagine if any of the Republican Senators had treated Anita Hill in this manner Sad

Cutting her off, then having the nerve to accuse her (she who was called to ANSWER questions) of fillibustering HIM and taking his time up?? Who had the nerve to tell her she could have plenty of time to answer the questions behind closed doors? Who called her Dr. Clark he was so flustered?

The terrorists know there is a yellow-bellied appeasement faction in this country. They count on it. That's why the cowards hide in mosques or behind human shields. Speaking of which, they ran back to safety pretty quickly didn't they. But I digress. Our efforts to minimize civilian casualties have not been praised, they have been ridiculed as ineffective by the same who would be flying high the pictures of collateral damage had we not gone in with more brute force.

Sigh Sad
