That seems a driver problem (or possibly a hardware problem).
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=363233 tells about it (I'm not saying that's the recommended solution!).
So I would see if I could install the latest drivers (in Safe Mode, maybe). If that doesn''t help another video card seems the next thing to try.

Previously it showed Blue Screen every time I boot my Y460; few seconds after the Window Logo. No matter how many times I reformate, it still showing Blue Screen, indicating STOP 0x00000116 and atikmpag.sys error. Subsequently, I went into the BIOS and changed the settings on the graphics switchable to discrete graphics. However its getting worst now because there is no display (totally black with no background light) every time I on my y460. Hence I need assistance and solutions, thanks.
