Hello All:

What to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to respond to this post:

We just had a 600 laptop image delopoyment of macbook pro's and since we
were rushed to do this in one day.... i forgot to connect them to wireless before
creating an image. (worked from 5am ~ 5 am)

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO create a login script, where to place it,
and how to push out wireless setting so when a user logs in, it would automatically
bind them to a certain wireless?

We want to strictly do this through our Mac os x server snow leopard.

Please help as I am going back this Sunday to resolve this. I will have to
manually open up 600 laptops and add them to the wireless if i don't
find out a solution.

Answer
Is the server

Is the server functioning as an LDAP/domain server? If yes, there's probably a decent chance, though you'll have to figure out the specifics on your own. My experience with OS X Server is pretty limited. All I can say is that there is a way to push updates to clients, but it's intended more for updates like you get when you run the software update program on OS X. Whether or not you can repurpose that for your needs I can't say, but it's at least a place to start.

If your server isn't functioning as an LDAP/Windows Domain server, that the laptops will be connecting to, then your best bet would be to update the image and then redo all 600 laptops with the new image. The hard part should already be done, making and testing the image. Now you just have to go back through and reimage a large number of systems. It's not going to be fun, and it will be time consuming, but it's probably the best overall solution.

I guess you dont understand the process of imaging, or have not imaged 600 laptops.

For the fastest answer.

At 600 Apple laptops you should have GOLD SERVICE from Apple in Cupertino.

Why go anywhere else with so much at stake?

PS. There have been folk that are looking for answers to some classroom test and can't call Apple!

You indicated

You indicated that you had a 10.6 Server that you could access, but I'm guessing that's just another one of your misleading comments, since if this were really that urgent of a situation, you'd be running down every lead, even the half baked ones, on the hope that they might turn up SOMETHING. Instead you seem to have an abundance of time to dismiss suggestions out of hand, and even toss in a rather whiny sounding complaint.

So, have fun logging into those 600 systems individually. Best get cracking if you want to be done, assuming you weren't leading us on about the deadline as well.
