Urgent Help with Copying Files using the Command Prompt

Hi, I need urgent help...
I have an exam on friday and I need revision documents and this is my situation:
My OS has broken, however I know the hard drive is still accessible, I also have the recovery options available to myself which includes the command prompt, my question is:

How would I copy the content from my C: drive to my external hard drive using the command prompt, which after looking I have found to show up as the F: drive.
