Computer bought in Sept 2008. Windows XP Professional SP3. Intel Core2 Quad 2400 Hz. Connecting through ASDL.
Have fiddled with Service, Protocol, User settings, and totally confused myself.
"HijackThis log file" seems to indicate malware (present in the long list is: O1 - Hijack of auto.search.msn.com with Hosts file, O13 - Hijack of default, URL prefixes, etc etc.). Frightened to just fix it all, as I have already done to much fixing, which has complicated things, and not fixed them at all! Npt experienced enough, and need expert help in what to "fix" with "HijackThis" and what not...
Unable to get disabled Windows firewall/ICS enabled. Too many administrators on PC (only used by me) as I have created too many users, two with administrative rights, although I am the sole user of computer.
Sophisticated IT help would be much appreciated - if only with setting registry to a safe and stable state. Ideally also to stabilize internet security, so that I can access work intranet.
