URGENT! help me set up email in outlook (program). 2nd time

Apr 28, 2017 9:14AM PDT

So I was supposed to receive an email for my future job. And I didn't. I suspect they have sent it from outlook (program) instead of some internet mail site. And that might be the cause? Is it? (because I'm always checking my hotmail on the internet)

I followed these instructions to try and create the same (internet outlook site) email in the actual program rather than the internet outlook mail.

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Add-your-Outlook-com-account-in-Outlook-for-Windows-642c1902-bdd9-4dc3-abe7-76d60b148b23?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US#step42007_bkmk (clicked on "2010, 2007" then "Set up a supported or an unsupported version of Outlook" then "Which version of Outlook... 2007" Then I read it all)

- Upon starting Outlook 2007 two exact same windows appear saying "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified. The target principal name is incorrect. View Certificate... Do you want to continue using this server? It's Issued to: *.hotmail.com, Issued by: GlobalSign Organization Validation CA - SHA256 - G2

- My stuff is stuck in the outbox

- Aside of that it's totally empty, nothing from my internet hotmail is in it (inbox, junk, deleted, sent, nothing...)

- clicking on my email and "more settings" and "connection" it's set on to connect via LAN (by default) but should it be like that? I'm using some modem and have only this pc

- I clicked "Test account settings" on the only email account I added and this pops up:

"Send test e-mail message: The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (isp). The server responded: 550 5.7.3 Requested action aborted; user not authenticated"

- I have only telnet client (not telnet server) windows feature enabled, should it stay like that? I enabled it to test port 25 in cmd.exe, it seemed to be working, I'm not sure however as I had no image to compare it to (to see if it indeed is working), Should that stay enabled or?

Sadly back to hotmail.

Only they know the settings and it seems to change over time. You can google for this or just ask them.

Why not use the web mail interface? That way you know it will work.

Ay
Apr 28, 2017 12:29PM PDT

Actually I managed to set it up (even tho what pops up upon opening still does pop up)

The problem remains tho how do I make sure to receive the same email tommorow? and why didn't I receive it in the first place?

Here's the short version.
Apr 28, 2017 12:45PM PDT

If the web mail doesn't show it, you didn't get it or a spam filter ate it. Those filters are on many mail systems so when it positively must get through, supply them both your primary and backup email address. Only those new to this try to live on a single email address (I have 3 from memory,)

is it all I can do?
Apr 28, 2017 12:59PM PDT

I have no filters nor rules made tho?

I gave them a gmail adress too

But is that really all I can do? I'm giving out an image that I don't know how to use emails while everything else gets to my inbox

I worry here.

You seem a little new to all this. That's OK but in Hot and G mail the web mail has to show the email or else it never got to you.

uhm

Well even though for years, all I use it for is to send and get mail, no modifications, but what exactly makes it seem like I'm new?

So then I can't do anything else to be sure it gets to me or :s

What makes me confused is why the old library email didn't arrive as well at the time it was sent.

Google about folk that say email doesn't arrive.

I defer to all the priors on this. Email almost always works. It is not 100% a sure thing. Those that want it to be perfect get very upset at times.

Certs
Apr 28, 2017 1:14PM PDT

You should have been given a choice to accept or reject the certificate. Accept it. Then it will all work OK. You could also update your browser and maybe it already has the newer certificate authority who issues it to hotmail.

Actually I managed to set up the email. The certificate well I can only view it and click ok or cancel. Clicking ok still makes it appear on the next run. The mail seems to work fine tho. Bit laggy.

The other problem still remains, how do I make sure that I will definitely receive their email when they send it again. :S added them to safe senders on hotmail, added their @smth.smth to the safe senders on hotmail. Added them in my contacts on gmail. Provided them with the original address again and an extra gmail address. So far that's the only thing I have on my mind to do.

no way to check

you either get it or you don't. you can go online, open your email account and check the spam follders if not in your inbox.

Probably not but I'm curious are there supposed to be more spam folders aside of "Junk" in hotmail? because for years that's the only one I've had

many names for the same folder

there are no other spam folders. I just wrote spam instead of junk.
