win xp,288mb ram,3.0 dsl,firefox,dell v333c

Ok,I use the speed tests at Broadband reports and I get a decent dl speed of 2777,but the upload test never runs,no timeout message,no redirect...nothing.
I would test my upload capabilities on ebay if I could get past 3 pages---I get to ebay, my ebay, and one more click and then total lock-up.
I just upgraded to xp from win 98 and am starting to miss the streamlined set-up I had.Can somebody help me thru the labyrinth that is xp

The usual issues are drivers, pests.

What many are not told is that Microsoft does not upgrade drivers for your machine. YOU as the OS installer get to hunt down the needed BIOS updates, drivers. Microsoft will not do this for you.

Next the pest control must be taken to extremes. Have a clean machine. Try EWIDO and HOUSECALL. Do not run old incompatible versions of Norton or CD recording software (the most common gaffes.)

Hope this helps you move ahead.

Thanks Bob.Guess I'll go hunting for bios updates.I'll try the two programs you mentioned, they weren't compatible w/98,so I'll give 'em a spin.
It may be time to use this old Dell as a back-up and get a new computer!!

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
