Upgrading to WIndows 7 from Windows XP

hey guys, i need help on upgrading my compaq presario B3819 to windows 7. i have XP installed on it,a nd its working fine, i have a copy of 7 and would like to install it on this machine, but i have problems obtaining the ATI Mobility RADEON 9600/9700 driver for this PC. After i did a clean install of 7, it just didn't work. I also couldn't use the WI-FI but i eventually managed to get the driver using device manager's driver update.Any way to preserve the system drivers and move to 7? Thanks!

about that 'copy' of Windows 7.

Does the Compaq/HP web site show that this Compaq Presario B3819 is compatible with Win 7? If so, does that same web site offer any drivers for the newer Windows version?
