Actually, it is better to do a clean install than load XP on top of ME. If you are sufficiently backed up, you should boot to the XP disk and chose to reformat and then do a clean install. That is...if you are backed up.
I was upgrading my hp notebook from win. me to xp when i get these errors, reboot and try again. i did this several times and each time it comes up the same thing. I have been trying to cancel the up grade but now it will not let me do it. Each time the computer tries to reboot it goes to try and finish the xp upgrade, i cancel it to reboot and it goes back to xp setup. Right now i think i would like to cancel the upgrade and go back to win. me and be happy. No matter what i do it always goes back to the set up, I what to cancel but it will not let me, so how can i cancel the upgrade?
