Question

Upgrading The GPU in a Dell Inspiron Desktop

Apr 6, 2017 7:35AM PDT

I currently have a Dell Inspiron Desktop (Small edition/mini). The graphics card I am trying to Put in is a Nvidia Geforce 1060. The GPU fits, however, the preinstalled Power Source doesn't have a six pin, so it can't power the GPU.
I can't get a new case, But I have an old power supply. Should I switch it out or is there an adapter of some kind to power the GPU.

You could use a PSU that had that pin on it, do the "green wire test" to turn the PSU on and have the plug inserted into the PC and power up the GPU.

"Use an insulated wire as jumper in order to ground the power supply to the the green wire on the PSU to mother board power connector. Plug the power cord into a good outlet and turn on the power supply at back toggle switch.

What psu are you thinking about installing in the machine?.....make and model.

Does this old psu have the proper plugs to connect everything?
