I will let the techs give a better answer.
But updating the BIOS fills me with terror! ![]()
One wrong move and the BIOS gets corrupted and you have a very heavy paper weight on your desk, so unless there was some overriding need to update it, I have always shied away from that. I have never had that overriding need.
True, I am told I can always revert the BIOS to default by removing the CMOS battery and/or shorting jumpers or such thing, but that is way over my head and capabilities.
If you are confident with such things, and if your system needs an updated BIOS, then go for it, (subject to what the experts say), but if this were me and the system was working as well as expected, then i personally would leave well alone.
There is a general thinking about this. If it works, don't fix it.
I hope that helps.

Hello HP users,
I would like to upgrade my computer's BIOS to a more recent version while mine has become quite old.
In fact, this will be my first time performing such "critical" modification on my Netbook.
Here are the questions I'd like to ask about upgrading the BIOS:
>Is it the same as "Flashing" it ?
>Does it come with any benefits other than those shown in the website ?
> Is it ok making such a huge jump from the very first version to the last one directly ? (There are about 6 versions in between)
>What information do I need to save before starting the walkthrough ?
I have an HP Mini 311-1000CA PC running Windows 7 while it was originally running Windows XP at first place, regarding that it has compatible drivers with Windows 7 as in the HP website.
Thanks.
