upgrading O/S in Jornada 545

by drlaura / October 29, 2004 10:52 AM PDT

Help?! I have contacted HP and Microsoft and several third party vendors, but have been told I can't upgrade from PocketPC 2000 (WinCE 3.1) on my Jornada 540 series PDA. I'm stuck! All the new ebooks require PocketPC 2003, as does recent Microsoft Reader updates. I keep getting told that the O/S is in ROM and that an O/S upgrade can't be downloaded. Any ideas, folks?

Why "this will never happen."

The license fees for the change in OS has to be paid to Microsoft. Since most PDA, printer, router and other device owners don't want to pay up, there will be no upgrade of the OS.

I found a nice Wifi/BT and more ipaq rx3115 for under 250 so you should sell off your old PDA and start shopping.
