upgrading memory in my HP pavilion 7940.....

my computer has 128 ram.......i bought a 256 ram to add on to it......i have the memory in the computer, but it is not regonizing it. i even turned on the boot digonasic....please advise

Some machines required specific types of 256M memory sticks. Companies like Crucial.com and Kingston get you the right stick but generics will only work in most, but not all machines.

NOTHING YOU DO WILL CHANGE THIS. You'll want to order a stick from Crucial or such for your machine. If you didn't plug it in proper, then that's another issue, but I take it you did that.

The BIOS must be current as well.
