Dec 6, 2003 7:09PM PST

Problem seems to have always exsisted , however, it has never been an issue. Most recently, on IE, I received an error message refering to an error occurring in Mshtml.dll. One of the remedies was to update IE however when i try to, during the load up process the " windows could not.... yada yada yada 2%" .

" CAN ANYONE HELP"= probably not unless you provide more information, like the version of IE, exact error message, what you were doing when you received the error, what programs/apps were opened, etc.

However, I have done some fishing for you. Is this the message-EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in MSHTML.DLL. Iexplore ... dll. "Windows
could not update the file %1 from %2" when restarting IE. IEXPLORE
... ? If so, as a first step, check your machine for viruses and other parasites.

Check this
Mar 11, 2005 12:26AM PST

Make sure you can see all files and folders:

Go to My Computer - Tools - Folder Options - View:
- Select "Show hidden files and folders", click Apply - OK

Now check in C:\Windows\Inf for files called oemXX.inf of 0kb (zero) size, where XX are numbers.

If you find them, they could literally be thousands and you need to delete them all (the 0kb "ZERO" size).

Restart and retry the install.
