I looked at the chipset and it will run at the old speed. The drive however should work fine. Good luck.
I would like to upgrade my HP DV6500 laptop with a new hard drive (Scorpio Blue 500GB Hard Drive (SATA, 5,400 RPM, 8MB). the old hard drive is an Seagate ST9160821AS which I believe is a SATA 1.5. The new hard drive is a SATA 3. I am upgrading to try to increase the speed of the computer. My question is the hard drive interface capable of supporting SATA 3? The operating system is VISTA, I will be upgrading to 64 bit Windows 7 after I install the new hard drive
System configuration
HP Pavilion DV6500
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core TK-55
4 Gig
Vista 32 Bit
Any help would be appreciated
