Upgrading from Win7 Beta 7000 build to Win7 Home

Nov 17, 2009 12:54AM PST

Some time ago, I upgraded my computer with WinXP Home to the 7000 build of the Win7 Beta. I just purchased an upgrade copy of Win7 Home, but apparently I can't upgrade because the upgrade thinks I have a full version of Win7 Ultimate. Is there anyway to get around this? The computer came with WinXP, so I don't have the authentication codes or the discs. How can I get around this?

Thanks.

No, and Microsoft made it pretty clear early on that there was NO upgrade path for those pre-release versions of Windows. You will have to do a fresh/clean install.

My problem, however, is that I never had any XP discs, as my computer just came with XP already on it.

If you purchased you computer with XP pre-installed, contact the computer's manufacturer and have them send you the proper discs.
