Upgrading CPU in Compaq 5004US

Is it possible to upgrade my 1.10 GHZ AMD CPU? I am running Office XP Professional with 512MB of RAM. I purchased the computer in 2001 and it still runs great. I just want to keep up with the current technology.

But 2 issues may be a problem. Where to get such a CPU and new heatsink (the old will not be usable due to added heat) and if your machine will like the new CPU.

It won't give the machine much of a pop so I'd not do this.

Thanks for the response and I'll just hold on to my old "Steady Eddie." I figure as long as I keep it updated and clean, it will last a few more years.

It's a Socket A. CPUs are like finding hen's teeth. I was looking for an upgrade from a 1.25 last Spring.
