Question

Upgrading a pre-built system!

Apr 18, 2015 11:40PM PDT

Hello.

I bought a pre-built Asus desktop about an year ago. I downloaded CS:GO and to my surprise it lagged and FPS could not go over 25.

These are my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770S, 3,10 GHz 800,00 MHz
4GB DDR3 Kingston 1600 MHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 620
Asus M51AC OEM System Intel Motherboard (Or something like that)
I am currently running Linux Mint (Rebecca)

I was wondering what should I upgrade first in order to improve this system? I was thinking of buying a GTX 750 TI and buy another 4 GB RAM.

Could it be that CS:GO lagged because of the Graphics Card? The weird thing is that I have watched videos on youtube with people playing CS:GO smoothly.

Thanks in advance!

Clarification Request
Ram would be an easy first step.

8GB is pretty much the sweet spot so that would help but for gaming it's the GPU. Be sure you install in pairs on such a model.

OK, the stock PSU may need a boost too. Tell exact the PSU ratings so we can tell if that needs a change.
Bob

PS. For now, reduce effects, AA and such till you get more GPU power.

The GT620 is nothing as far as games go.

That's just a lower quality video recording, so of course it's less demanding than actually playing the game.
