Upgraded Problems

Aug 10, 2004 2:18AM PDT

Upgraded XP Home to XP Professional AND Office 2000 to Office 2003 on my Dell Inspiron 8600 Pentium, 1.50 MHz, 1.00 G Ram. I am now getting constant MS Office ERROR window popping up that "MS Word, Excel, Outlook (whichever program I have opened) has encountered an error and must close." Do I want to send a report? I send the report, the program closes --- then reopens (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the loop begins again. I have searched through the knowledge base and read many articles relating to this error message. I have tried runnning the "repair" on MS Office 2003 in the ADD/REMOVE Program area, but to no avail. I'm sorry to say I don't know whether it's related to the upgrade of XP home to professional or Office 2000 to 2003. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'd look at two areas.

1. Office Update. Hint: Take the updates.

2. Windows Update. Hint: take the critical updates. Never accept a Microsoft driver.

Also, a look at the EVENT VIEWER would be interesting once you clear it and wait for that error to happen again. Since EVENT VIEWER is in the Start, Help and Support, I will not duplicate what it is here.

We ran the Event Viewer and this is what it said:
RED CIRCLE X appeared, ERROR, 8/10/04 MS OFFICE 11, EVENT 1000, USER - ME. Same message over and over when we opened Word, Excel, & Outlook. The MS Error windowns opens almost immediately when we try to access any of these programs and then shuts it down. Does the Event Viewer findings mean anything to you? We have done all the updates we can do on both XP Pro and Office 2003. Thanks again.

How did you resolve this issue, as I have exactly the same thing!!!
We are a small English Primary School & have a new Dell Dimension 8400 Desktop running Windows XP Professional & Office 2003 in the IT Suite.

Like you, Outlook has encountered an error & needs to close.....& multiple error message windows open whether you click send or don't send report. The same happens in all other Office Suite programs.

My technician ran Office Repair Wizard & things went well for an hour or so, but then back to the same problem.

Can anybody out there help please?

Did you wipe it out and reinstall?
