Question

Upgraded pc and now doesn't work? Please help.

Jul 29, 2017 10:45PM PDT

Alright so last week I bought a 650w thermaltake psu and new rgb corsair sp120 fans to replace my 535w raidmax psu and stock fans.
I install them and I'm able to play video games fine so I decided to overclock my gpu that same night since I have enough power to now. I run a 4Gb rx 480 reference card. Overclockinf was the last thing I did that night and then I shut my pc down. The next morning I turned my pc on and it booted up and I went and got breakfast and came back to my pc off and my power led switch blinking. Confused I tried to turn it back on and nothing. I took the whole thing apart and rebuilt it out of the pc and nothing still so I tested the psu and it worked on a fan and then I tested just connecting the motherboard and nothing so I bought a new motherboard, the same type and it came in today. I reconnected and put it all back together and turned it on this time and it turned on but out of the 3 rgb fans, one flickers and barely has any light and the other 2 flicker some but spin fine, they also spin at their max rpm it seems because it's quite loud. Also my screen is black but I have power to my mouse and rgb keyboard. I'm lost as to what could be wrong.
Could someone please help me?

Clarification Request
What's wrong with the older PSU?

Did you try it also on the two motherboards?

Answer
On cardboard

Psu+mobo+cpu/hsf.
Does it power up?

If so add one stick of ram.
Does it power up?

If so add a gpu.
Does it power up?

If so plug a monitor into the gpu.
Do you get a bios screen?

What is the model number of this psu you bought?
Provide a link if possible.

It's the Thermaltake SmartPro RGB 650W
Model: PS-SPR-0650FPCBUS-R

I'm currently not home but I'll try that when I get home. Thanks.

Tested components

Okay so I tested everything one at a time and still my monitor says no signal. Also I'd like to mention that the last thing I did before I shut it off before anything was messed up was overclock my gpu

So no BIOS or boot screens show?

Try a CMOS reset next and if you can, on board graphics.

You left out a lot of what this PC is made of so I can't be specific.

No bios shows

Alrighty well here are the specs
CPU AMD FX 8320 (water cooled by h100i v2)
Motherboard 970A-G43 Plus
RAM 12GB
120 GB SSD
1 TB HDD ( I can hear them moving)
650W psu
4 120 mm fans

Also, my motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics.

Just to be clear
Jul 30, 2017 6:21PM PDT

The mobo and cpu/hsf and one stick of ram and the gpu is on cardboard.

The monitor is plugged into the gpu.

Nothing else is plugged in.

You don't get a bios screen.

Can you test this monitor and cable on another machine or swap in another monitor?

The cmos clear has been mentioned.

Tell the mobo make and model and the cpu make and model.

Did you try your old psu?

Yes everything is as said

I removed the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes to reset the cmos. I tried my old psu and still no signal to monitor.

I have tried a different card

I tried another card and it's fan doesn't work either

Is the fan separately connected to PSU?
Jul 30, 2017 7:29PM PDT

Or does it get the power from the slot the card is plugged into? Also seems the ONLY thing you've not swapped to check is the CPU.

You did not mention the monitor.
Jul 30, 2017 7:04PM PDT

Did you swap it and the cable or test it on another machine?

Yes I have
Jul 30, 2017 7:13PM PDT

I swapped the cable and monitor on my other pc
