Upgrade to Windows vista Ultimate

I've installed the Vista Ultimate upgrade to my desk top 4 times now and every time my pc begins to freeze up. Everything is ok when I downgrade to XP. Help!

Did you download it or is it from ISO or is it from DVD or is it from Microsoft themselfs ect?
